I have decided to do music reviews for my blog post instead. So I guess I'll update once a week with one of my "new" songs. It represents my views and if i offend anyone, I am sorry. If you are unhappy with my views on the song, please leave a tag, and I'll get to you shortly.=) Okay.. and MC gave me an idea of what YXJ can possibly stand for. Haha thanks!
I've decided to do a music review, cos this blog is so dead, and why not do something I enjoy posting, music reviews! Haha, these songs may be old, but I feel that good songs are hard to die, no matter how old they are. Why not start with a nice song from one of my favourite bands? The Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP). I shall be doing Can't Stop by RHCP.. in case you hadn't notice, it has been my blog song for a very very long while liao.
Can't Stop by The Red Hot Chili Peppers
Well, this song, for me deserves a five star rating, although i feel that the introduction was a bit boring, but it makes sense, as it builds up to a nice climax for the song. I like the verses, haha funky, just my style. =). Also, the chorus is not as funky as the other parts of the song, but I feel that it is an outstanding part of the song. It may not be funky, but it gives me the wild kinda of feeling, and makes it very enjoyable to sing along to.. especially when you are hyped up by the front part of the song already. The bass(Flea) is fun and melodic at the chorus, and is funky with all the slapping and popping and the additional fills at the other parts of the song... who says bass guitar is an boring instrument?
In the bridge of the song, before the solo, it also builds up to the climax of a simple but outstanding guitar solo by John Frusciante. It is done with the introduction of additional instruments, making the song fuller and fuller. Speaking about transitions, John uses his vocals to hint of transitions from verses to chorus as well.
But what I appreciate about the song is the difference in "weight" of the instruments and vocals (Anthony Kiedis), and paints the song a more vivid and lively picture, at the same time while maintaining the mood and feeling of the song. Not to forget the person who gives the song a proper backbone is Chad Smith on the drums. Another thing that intruiges me a lot is the fact that all the major instruments and vocals in the song mean the same thing, but presented and brought to you in many different and vibrant ways. Enjoy, and this is Can't Stop by The Red Hot Chili Peppers!
Hmm... Maybe I shall do some Gun's N' Roses next...
But, Not To Fret! I'll still be back with more Peppers!=)
